Our chicks come from Kruse Hatchery, a family-run operation in Fort Atkinson, Iowa, with a long-standing reputation for quality and integrity.

  • 📝 In accordance with the Department of Animal Health, we’re required to record where chicks are going to help track any potential outbreaks of illness such as avian influenza. Your address or information will never be shared with anyone else.

🐓 Chickens

Jumbo Cornish Rock

The ultimate meat bird—fast-growing and ready for harvest in just 8–10 weeks. Known for their large breasts and feed efficiency. Not ideal for egg-laying or long-term keeping due to their rapid growth rate.

Barnyard Chicken Mix

A fun, colorful mix of heritage and hybrid hens—great for backyard flocks! Expect a variety of egg colors, from brown to cream. Hardy and personable birds that bring charm to any coop.

Red Sex Link

A top choice for reliable, high-production brown eggs. These calm, friendly hens are great layers, producing 250–300 eggs per year. Perfect for first-time chicken keepers.

Rhode Island Red

A hardy dual-purpose breed, excellent for both egg-laying and meat. They lay large brown eggs consistently and thrive in colder climates. Great for free-ranging.

Rhode Island White

Less common than their red cousins, but just as productive! Dual-purpose birds that lay large brown eggs and have a calm temperament. Known for being good winter layers.

White Pekin

The most popular meat duck in the U.S.—fast-growing and flavorful. Friendly and quiet, they can also lay 150–200 white eggs per year.

Mallard

A beautiful wild-type duck known for foraging skills and natural instincts. Often raised for ornamental purposes, release, or small egg production. Requires a permit in some areas for release.

Muscovy

A quiet, unique duck that’s prized for its lean meat. Less water-dependent than other breeds. They lay around 100–180 cream-colored eggs per year and are known to be excellent mothers.

Golden 300 (Hybrid Egg Layer)

Top-tier duck for egg production—laying up to 290 large white eggs per year. Calm and efficient, ideal for anyone looking to add consistent duck eggs to the mix.

🪿 Geese

White Embden

A large, fast-growing meat goose with pure white feathers. Calm and easy to manage, they’re also effective weeders in gardens and orchards.

Pilgrim

A rare, auto-sexing goose breed (males are white, females are gray). Excellent for both meat and egg production, with a gentle personality. Lays about 20–40 large white eggs per season.

🦃 Turkeys

White Turkey

Also known as Broad Breasted White. The industry standard for Thanksgiving birds—large, fast-growing, and ideal for meat production.

Bronze Turkey

A heritage-style meat bird with beautiful bronze feathers. Slower-growing than whites but with richer flavor and a more natural build. May be able to reproduce naturally, unlike white turkeys.

Pearl Guinea

Excellent for insect control and alerting to predators. Known for their unique call and active nature. They lay small, hard-shelled cream-colored eggs and are popular for tick control on homesteads.
